Udawalawe National Park is the best place in the world to discover wild elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country. It locates boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. Udawalawa National park covers 30,820 hectares of land area and another side cover branch of Walawe River. It is most famous for the many Elephants that live there. During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants - feeding or bathing and playing in the water In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many Water Buffalo, Water Monitor, Lizards, Sambar Deer, Monkeys and the occasional Leopard, as well as being an exciting location for Bird enthusiasts. Udawalawe National Park has amazing places to camp, there are a number of rivers that make it look very much appealing in terms of camping. The extensive area of grassland devoid of forest cover makes the viewing of elephants easier than anywhere else in Asia: herds up to 100 or even more could be seen along the river & near the numerous streams & tanks. It is a good place if one is looking for some adventure and a long lasting experience.
